Unsolicited Cease

During a switch, the gaining provider can send an unsolicited cease to the losing provider. This will be delivered to the tenant in the same way as a KCI - however it will be a new order created by the gateway that won't have been originally sent by the tenant. Further KCIs will then be sent as the order progresses or if it is updated e.g. if the requested date is moved by the gaining provider. The order may contain details of the gaining provider.

The reason will be provided for the unsolicited cease:

  • CHANGE _ OF _ CP : Customer is switching to another CP
  • WORKING _ LINE _ TAKEOVER : Customer is moving address and is taking over the line
  • CP_REQUEST : Customer is changing service/technology but CP is not changing

Note that in the last case, the unsolicited cease could have originated from a tenant request e.g. changing technology may result in receiving an "unsolicited" cease for the old service.

The tenant, as losing provider, cannot amend the unsolicited cease order but can request cancellation under certain scenarios:

  • NO_AUTHORISATION
  • CUSTOMER _ NOT _ AWARE
  • DELIBERATE_MISLEAD
  • PURCHASED _ DIFFERENT _ PRODUCT
  • END _ USER _ NOT _ MOVING

Unsolicited ceases use a simpler order state diagram as shown below. Some suppliers will create an unsolicited cease prior to acknowledging it whereas some will send a pre-acknowledged or committed unsolicited cease. The gateway will send appropriate KCIs to ensure they consistently follow this state diagram:
